Arthritis is a collective term used to describe over 100 more specific ailments. Arthritis refers to musculoskeletal disorders that can effect people of all ages, races and genders.

Over 60% of people with arthritis are under the age of 65, including young children.

The three most common forms of arthritis are:
Osteoarthritis: This is the most common form of arthritis. Osteoarthritis is a progressive degenerative joint disease characterized by a breakdown of cartilage connected to certain risk factors such as obesity, history of joint injuries and age.
Rheumatoid Arthritis: This is a disease characterized by the inflammation of membranes that line the joint, causing pain, stiffness and could lead to joint damage.
Juvenile Arthritis: This is a blanket term used to describe conditions that appear in children younger than age 16.

Since there are so many types of arthritis, there is not just one way to prevent and/or manage it. However, knowing more about your specific type will help us develop a treatment plan and help you manage your symptoms.

Physical activity can help manage some of the pain and stiffness associated with arthritis.
